Activities & Classes

The following activities and classes are offered for the enjoyment of Chickasaw residents and their families. We are offering a wide range of activities for all ages, which we hope will meet the recreational needs of the community.

Fees: Class fees are kept to a minimum. No refunds will be considered after the second meeting.

Register: You may register for any activity at the Chickasaw Civic Center. To register by telephone please call 452-6462. Register early to ensure your place.

Resident Policy: The 2010 Pool Season will require issuance
of a Photo I D resident card at a cost of $5.00 per swimmer.
The card must be issued before the pool can be used. Head
of Household must apply for resident cards, and prove
Chickasaw residence for each member of household.
You must be a Chickasaw resident. For your convenience,
call 452-6462 to schedule your appointment.

Aquatics Chickasaw Pool 2010 Schedule

Opening Day: Tuesday June 1
Pool Hours: Monday – Saturday 12-6pm (open swim)
Closed Sundays
Rates: For use during open swim hours only (all ages $1.50)
Senior Adults – Free
Children 3 yrs and younger Free
Private Parties: $60.00 under 40 swimmers $80.00 over 40 swimmers
Permit for private parties is required. Call Kathy 452-6467 for reservations.
Season Passes: $30.00 Individuals
$50.00 Family of 2
$70.00 Family of 3 to 5

Summer Swimming Programs

Water Fitness Class
Water is a comfortable stress-free workout environment. All the benefits of cardiovascular and resistive workouts are in our powerful water fitness classes, with little or no stress on your joints. For ages 16 and up (adults).
Tuesday and Thursday
$1.50 per class
6:00pm-7:00pm

Kid's Night at the Pool
Kids rule at the pool. There will be music, games and pizza. Loads of fun!
Date: Monday August 2, 6pm-8pm
Fee: $3.00 (rescheduled due to bad weather)

Ballroom Dance Classes
Planning to begin in Fall. Please call if interested. 452-6462

64th Chickasaw Founders Day
Will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010. Make plans to be a part of a Great Day.

First Annual Kayak and Canoe Fun Day

Chickasaw School Board
The City of Chickasaw is accepting resumes for consideration of appointment
to the Chickasaw School Board. Resumes will be received until September 10,
2010, and may be mailed to or dropped off at City Hall (PO Box 11307 Chickasaw Al. 36671). Anyone wishing to be considered for appointment must be a resident of the City of Chickasaw.

Adult Water Fitness Classes To continue through August.
Tuesday and Thursday, 6pm at the pool. Great exercise and fellowship!

Chickasaw Playground
Plans are in the future for a kid’s playground in Chickasaw, if interested in helping secure plans call Kathy 452-6467

Chickasaw Karate Classes for Young and Older
Self-defense and karate classes are taught on Tuesday and Thursday.

Chickasaw Soccer Camp
The Chickasaw United Methodist Church will be sponsoring a Youth Soccer Camp. Plans are being made. please contact the church at 452-3461 or Recreation Department 452-6467. Our hope will be to start a community league.


Senior Adult Activities

Senior Summer Sizzler
Plan to enjoy a summer evening out. Dinner and music to
be included for a great time.

Place: Civic Center Cost: $4.00

Trip to the National Naval Aviation Museum/Imax
What a day! Lunch at Museum, spectacular movie (Hubble) on the seven story
IMAX, and private tour of National Naval Aviation Museum.
Thursday September 23
Depart Civic Center 9:00am- Arrive Back around 4:00pm
Cost $18.50 includes all above. Please have payment in by September 20

Meals on Wheels
Home cooked meals for seniors in Chickasaw. Cost $3.00

Senior Adult Bingo
Come join in on lots of laughter-Wednesday at 12:00noon

There will be snacks and prizes. Call for transportation at 452-6464

Chick-a-Cisers
Fun fitness designed just for the senior adults on Monday-Wed-Friday.
Come exercise for the health of it!

Blood Pressure Check
Come have your blood pressure checked each first Wednesday of the Month.

Early Bird Breakfast
The first Monday of each month the Recreation Department sponsors an early bird Breakfast. A homemade breakfast with warm smilingfaces.
Time: 7:30am

Cost: $2.00

Senior Dominoes with Friends on Friday
Play a fun game of dominoes on 3rd Friday of each month. Friday Fun.

Senior Adult Master Games
Lets give a big hand for our Senior Adults that will be playing in the Master Games in Trussville, Al. Members are Archery Dockery, Jane Beuk, Veola Vaughn, Jean Cullinane, Gloria Cox, Gean Sims, Roberta Greer and
Lena Smith. We are asking for sponsors to contribute to the expense.

Every January the Chickasaw Kiwanis Club has a charity Disc Golf Tournament that brings in players from as far away as Missouri and Virginia. The proceeds from this event are donated to the Women's and Children's Hospital in Mobile. In the past few years over $30,000. has been given to that charity.
